Composition Manager is setup to use the devi interface directly, so even if io-hid is not used on your target, you can still use the touch screen. Specifically when you start the devi-xxx touchscreen driver, it will map in /dev/devi/touch0 which can be used by io-winmgr.
Notice the Global Setting "input". If you just set this to all or specify each of the devices you would like to connect to including 'touch0' this should configure io-winmgr to pick up these events.
